Now the cops are there and suspecting him of murder. When Sookie arrives she finds Eric drinking from someone else (someone with the scent of fairy blood on them making her irresistible to vampires) and after he and Pam force the girl out of the house, she is later found dead on his lawn. Sookie has been summoned to go to a gathering at Eric’s house where they are supposed to meet with the king and discuss Victor’s death as the king is still deciding whether or not to bring charges against Eric. The vampire king of Louisiana has been visiting along with his entourage and everything is still undecided as far as Eric going off to marry the Queen of Oklahoma, Freyda, as the contract his maker signed before his death states he must. She and Eric have just been going through the motions as far as their relationship is concerned. Claude and Dermot are still living with Sookie. In this one, Sookie is still working at Merlotte’s and has actually helped Sam financially to keep the bar afloat, making it to where she owns part of the bar now. Review brought to you by OBS staff member Heidiĭeadlocked is the 12th installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Start somewhere else, if at all.Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampires, Book #12 For avid readers of this series, this revisiting of events might be fun but, new readers, beware. There are references to these happenings but most of the story returns to remembrance of things in earlier books and the day to day bits of Sookie's life. I thought the book would pick up at that point but, alas, no. Maybe they all showed up after that.) The action begins about a third of the way through when a young woman's body is found in Eric's front yard and Mustapha goes missing. (To be fair, I did give up on this one at the 75% mark.

more om earlier books in the series is daunting and a lot of them are just that - mentions without being part of the current action. Trying to keep track of the characters mentioned (and there are a lot of them) fr. Review 2: If you are planning on reading the Sookie Stackhouse series, do not, DO NOT, start at #12 like I did. So tired of reading about/listening to Sookie having serious thoughts while she works as a waitress (and nothing exciting happens) and thinking things over while she does her laundry (and nothing exciting happens) and pondering her choices and wants and needs while she picks up her mail and goes grocery shopping (AND NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENS). Review 1: This series has been dying a slow and painful death for several books now and even though there is purportedly only one book more, I just can't be bothered to spend the time or the money on it.
